Norman is a delightful college town with many good eateries and bars within walking distance of campus. The meeting will be held on the south side of campus, within walking distance of the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History. Campus corner, where many of the restaurants and bars are located is still within walking distance (about 0.5 miles), but Main Street, where you can find even more entertainment is a short drive or a longer walk away (1.5 miles),
A word about the weather
Norman is located in the central plains of the US. The weather can be wonderfully pleasant with sunshine and temperatures in the 80’s-90’s. But the weather in Norman is really unpredictable and you might experience both spring and summer during the three days of the conference. Please check the weather before you travel and come prepared! Oklahoma has one of the finest weather monitoring system, the Oklahoma Mesonet. Check out their website for Weather updates and warnings. The Mesonet also offers a free app (both for Android and on iTunes that provides localized weather information. Ask the locals how to behave during severe weather.
Norman is easily reached by car. It lies directly on I-35 just south of Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City (OKC) is also the nearest international airport. Sometimes inexpensive fares are available to go to Dallas/FortWorth (DFW) and it is a roughly a three hour drive north to get to Norman. We will not be able to pick you up at the airport in Oklahoma City, but there are several providers of rides from the airport, including Airport Express (recommended based on positive personal experience only).
